BENEFITS OF SLEEPING ACCORDING TO SUNNAH

Assalamu Alaikum! and Morning for all Muslim and Non Muslim people all over the world!

[size=150]BENEFITS OF SLEEPING ACCORDING TO SUNNAH IN THE LIGHT OF MEDICAL SCIENCE

Today science tells us the best sleeping position, medical science tells us that its healthy to sleep on your back or on your right side which we (muslims) were told 1400 years ago by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him)

Sleeping on the right side does not let the weight of stomach and intestine to suppress heart, hence blood circulation is not affected.

By sleeping on the right side, the heart remains on the topside, one will not have a deep sleep. A little noise can prepare someone to face any contingency. It also develops the habit of early morning rise.

Sitting and rubbing the eyes for a while after awaking adjusts the heartbeat according to the new posture, hence it has positive impact on the heart.

Napping after lunch helps to prevent burden on coronary artery. According to cardiologists, having a nap after lunch produces positive effects on heart.

Imam Shafi states that there are 4 types of sleep:

To lie on the back-this is the sleep of the Prophet’s .
To sleep on the right side-this is the sleep of the Worshippers. (us!)
To sleep on the left side-this is the sleep of the rulers.
To sleep on the stomach-this is the sleep of the devil.

[Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood.]
Hazrat Aishah reports:
“The mattress the Prophet used to sleep on was made of hide, stuffed with fiber.”

Benefits of Avoiding Soft Bed in the Light of Medical Science:
Backache is often caused by regular use of soft bed as the muscles of back are loosened. The pain gets aggravated on continuous use. Extremely soft and comfortable bed can lead to the inflammation of ureters, hence kidney diseases can be prevented by not using soft bed. The use of soft bed can reduce the gap between the vertebrae. The experts don’t recommend it. Infants using soft bed can suffer from deformity of bones, which may lead to disability.

It is Sunnah to dust off the bed before sleeping

[Al-Bukhaari (6320) and Muslim (2714)]
Narrated by Abu Hurrairah:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. Then let him say: Bismika Rabbee wada’tu janbi wa bika arfa’uhu wa in amsakta nafsi farhamhaa wa in arsaltahaa fahfazhaa bimaa tuhfaz bihi ‘ibaadika al-saaliheen ( In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If you should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).”

It’s forbidden and not recommended to sleep on Stomach:

Ya’eesh ibn Tihfah al-Ghifaari reported that his father said:
“I stayed as a guest with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with those of the poor whom he hosted. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out in the night to check up on his guests, and saw me lying on my stomach. He prodded me with his foot and said, ‘Do not lie in this manner, for it is a way of lying that Allah hates.’” According to another report, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prodded him with his foot and woke him up, and said, “Do not lie like this, for this is how the people of Hell lie.”
(Reported by Ahmad, al-Fath al-Rabbaani, 14/244-245; by al-Tirmidhi, no. 2798, Shaakir edn.; and by Abu Dawood, al-Sunan, Kitaab al-Adab, no. 5040, al-Da’aas edn. Also reported in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2270-2271).

(Surah Al-‘Ahzab Ch:33 V:21)

“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.”

- In the present day science tells us that it’s best to sleep on the right side or back and not lying on the left side and stomach. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings be upon him) was aware of this back in his time. Beyond doubt he is the best example for us all to follow for all time.

As Salaamu Alaykum!

The food industry is waging war on your cells with these 10 toxic ingredients

Preservatives and synthetic food agents found in foods inhibit oxygen and delay the development of fungus and mold, creating a longer shelf-life for products. But after being consumed, these toxins deprive human cells of oxygen and rob them of nutrients, thus leading to cell mutation and the perfect breeding ground for cancer.

Just like humans, cells need oxygen to survive and thrive. “Fungus fighting” preservatives and man-made food agents choke out your body’s nutrients at the DNA level by depriving mitochondrial cells of oxygen, sometimes completely shutting them down. And if the body does not have enough essential nutrients, it becomes more susceptible to disease.

Longer shelf life, shorter human life
If you’re not a label-reader already, you better become one soon. You don’t have to be a chemist or a linguist either, just be able to sight read and spot the poisons so you can live cancer-free. Most food toxins are followed by a phrase, often in parenthesis, to make them sound “safe” and in your best interest, like “as a preservative,” or “for added freshness,” or “to preserve flavor.” These catchy little phrases really mean for the added choking of your cells to aid with cancer development.

The top 10 cell stranglers revealed
The United States has several major regulatory agencies and “cancer prevention” organizations which have not only been suppressing natural cancer cures for 70 years, but have been approving, supporting, endorsing and profiting from cancer-causing agents in food, beverages and cosmetics since World War II.

1. Sodium Benzoate: This stealthy killer flies under most people’s radar, and is found in just about everything in jars and bottles, like salad dressing, pickles, sauces, mayonnaise, almost all soda and juice drinks, and even in foods labeled as “all natural.”

2. Canola Oil: This artificial, Canadian-exported GMO is super popular and is found in over 30% of all products. It chokes out your mitochondrial cells. Canola oil is really rapeseed oil and can cause emphysema and respiratory distress, eventually leading to cancer.

3. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): The FDA allows 20 “pseudo” names for it including autolyzed yeast extract, free glutamate, glutamic acid, soy lecithin, calcium caseinate, hydrolyzed corn, hydrolyzed soy protein, and maltodextrin to name a few. Just because a product says “No MSG” doesn’t mean it’s not in there!

4. Sodium Nitrates (nitrosamines): Used for fertilizers and explosives, and as a solvent in the dry cleaning industry. This ingredient keeps hemoglobin molecules in your blood from carrying oxygen to your body tissues. It’s considered a “super salt” (like MSG) added to things like hot dogs, cold cuts and bacon for added shelf-life, color and flavor. Problems compound when microwaved.

5. Margarine: The body cannot incorporate trans-fatty acids into membranes, thus causing deformed cellular structures. Vegetable shortening and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils accelerate aging and degenerative changes in tissues.

6. Anti-foaming agents: (Dimethylpolysiloxane) An industrial chemical used in caulks and sealants. This component is mostly used in fast food chicken nuggets and eggs. Also watch for TBHQ, a petroleum derivative, used as a stabilizer in perfumes, resins, varnishes and oil field chemicals, and linked to stomach tumors and DNA damage.

7. Anti-caking agents: Chemicals that absorb moisture and prevent other compounds from sticking together. These are added to table salt and powdered food products. They are often composed of phosphate, carbonate, silicate and oxide compounds which contain aluminum. Watch for sodium alumino-silicate, alumino-calcium silicate and aluminium silicate. Aluminum is linked to Alzheimer’s and is also used in flu shots and vaccines.

8. Artificial colorings: Synthetic petrochemicals made from petroleum, antifreeze and ammonia. Blue #1 causes kidney tumors in mice. Red #2 and Blue #2 cause brain and bladder tumors in rats. Red #3 causes thyroid cancer in animals, and is banned in cosmetics, but still allowed in food. Red #40 debilitates the immune-system. Green #3 causes bladder and testes tumors. Yellow #5 and #6 cause adrenal tumors in animals.

9. Emulsifiers: Carrageenan, polysorbate 80 and brominated vegetable oil (BVO). These are stabilizing, smoothing and thickening agents. They are typically found in chocolate milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, infant formula and jelly. BVO remains in body fat for years. Polysorbate 80 is also found in most vaccines.

10. Artificial Sweeteners: Aspartame, Acesulfame K, Sucralose, Sorbitol, Truvia, and of course, Saccharin. Because they taste sweet, these chemical sweeteners trick the body into ingesting them and holding on to them for extended periods of time, turning rancid in the body fat. Fake sugars are the “Trojan horses” of the cell-choking and mutating, food agent industry. Sorbitol is also found in many vaccines.

America has been breeding and treating cancer with chemicals for 70 years
How does a politician running for office or for a position with a United States Government regulatory agency guarantee winning that election or appointment? He or she simply supports the insidious toxic food and medicine industry by meeting with lobbyists, promising the approval of chemical food agents that strangulate human DNA cells, and furthering legislation which supports cancer treatments to do more of the same.

Besides the wars in the Middle East, there’s a Domestic War going on right now in our country, so pay very close attention to everything you eat, and every “medicine” your doctor recommends. Also, do some research of your own if you want to protect your cells and keep them oxygenated, preventing cancer and other disease.

Yet you are in doubt

(Source: idayumumtaz, via iisnotapap)

When you lift your hands in dua’a, and look into the unique lines on your palms… As you’re sitting on the floor, before your Lord and as you ask Him for the things that come to your mind… And your list continues… And it expands… And you think of all the things you wanted and realize all the things you actually need… You begin to make dua’a for your aakhira, for your parents’ lives here - for their struggles and hardships to vanish, to never be a disappointment for them - and for their aakhira… And you remember all the people in your life that need guidance and deserve the mercy of the Lord that you sit before… And your eyes begin to fill with tears from your past sins, as you beg for forgiveness, and seek His guidance and His mercy and His blessings… And the tears roll down your cheeks, and at this point you can no longer make dua’a… You’re simply sitting there, before Allah, crying, staring at your hands… No thoughts cross your mind except that you are so insignificant and you’re sitting before the Creator of the universe… And you are thankful that it is He whom you have turned to for help because it is only Him who can grant you your needs and forgiveness… And you feel, at this point, that there is no barrier between you and your Creator and nothing but Him is greater and you realize you need Him more than anything. And you begin to feel an achievement of spiritual connection as you make dua’a to Him. It brings the creation closer to the creator and reminds us of our place and our needs and our weaknesses and His greatness. May He forgive us. May He guide us. Ameen.

Jum’ah!

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds. Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.

6 Virtues of praying at the Masjid

سم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem “In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful”

ASSALAMU-WA-ALAYKUM-WA-RAHMATULAHI-WABARAKATU “May the peace of Allah be upon you, and His mercy and blessings”

6 Virtues of praying at the Masjid

The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

“I had considered ordering for the prayer to be established, then I would order every man to pray and set loose men who have with them logs of wood upon a people who did not come to the prayer and I would burn their houses with the fire.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

This clearly indicates that there is no excuse for men to make a congregation at home if they have a Masjid near them and it is possible for them to pray in one.

Imam al-Shafi`i (Allah have mercy on him) said in hisal-Umm: “I do not allow anyone who is able to attend the congregational prayer to miss it, unless they have an excuse.” [Shafii, al-Umm, 1.154]

Obviously we all have different situations. Some of us live near a Masjid. Some very far. For some of us it is too dangerous to venture out on our own or it maybe that we live in extreme climates etc.

By being “too far” it is meant that if it is genuinely difficult to get to a Masjid because of how far it is or if it is in such a location that it is very difficult to get to etc. If it is possible to attend with even a little hardship then one should make every effort to do so for their are HUGE rewards in praying at the house of Allah.

However, for those who are unable to pray at the mosque but able to pray in congregation with other Muslims (such as co-workers or one’s wife). They get the reward of praying in congregation if they take the means and establish such congregations at work or at home. Then, when they are able to go to the mosque, they should hasten to do so. If, while doing this, they have the firm and sincere intention that had they been able to go to the mosque they genuinely would have, they get (some or all of the) reward of praying at the mosque itself, as rigorously authentic hadiths of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) clearly explain. [Shurunbulali, Imdad al-Fattah Sharh Nur al-Idah; Tahtawi, Hashiyat al-Maraqi]

So where ever we are whether it is at work, school, shopping centre etc we should try and establish a congregation where possible and with the right intention we would gain immense reward of praying Salaah with congregation.

Here are some virtues of praying Salaah at the Masjid:

1. Superiority of praying in congregation

He (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) also said, “ Prayer in congregation is superior to prayer alone by twenty seven degrees.” [Bukhari & Muslim, from Ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him)]

2. A place in Jannah for those who attend the Masjid Morning and evening

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “He who goes to the mosque in the morning or in the evening, Allah prepares for him a place in Jannah whenever he goes to the mosque in the morning and returns from it in the evening.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

3. Reward for every step taken to the Masjid

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “He who purifies (performs Wudu’) himself in his house and then walks to one of the houses of Allah (mosque) for performing an obligatory Salat, one step of his will wipe out his sins and another step will elevate his rank (in Jannah).” [Muslim].

Subhanallah! Every step is a reward so the further the Masjid the more reward for every step.

4. Greatest reward for one who lives furthest from Masjid

Abu Musa (RA) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “The person who will receive the highest reward for Salat (prayer) is the one who comes to perform it in the mosque from the farthest distance. And he who waits for Salat to perform it with the Imam (in congregation) will have a greater reward than the one who observes it alone and then goes to sleep.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Abu Hurairah (RA reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “Shall I not tell you something by which Allah effaces the sins and elevates the ranks (in Jannah).” The Companions said: “Yes (please tell us), O Messenger of Allah.” He said, “Performing the Wudu’ properly in spite of difficult circumstances, walking with more paces to the mosque, and waiting for the next Salat (prayer) after a observing Salat; and that is Ar-Ribat, and that is Ar-Ribat.” [Muslim].

So the further one lives from the Masjid the more reward they will gain for attending the Masjid!

5. Glad tidings for one who goes at the Masjid for Isha and Fajr

Buraidah (RA) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “Convey glad tidings to those who walk to the mosque in the darkness. For they will be given full light on the Day of Resurrection.” [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].

‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (RA) said, I heard the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam): ‘If someone prays ‘Isha’ in a group, it is as if he had prayed half of the night. If someone prays Subh in a group, it is as if he had prayed the entire night.’” [Muslim]

Abu Hurayra (RA) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam), said, “And if they only knew what was in the prayers of ‘Isha’ and Subh, they would come to them even if they had to crawl.” [Agreed upon]

Abu Hurayra reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “There is no prayer heavier on the hypocrites than Fajr and ‘Isha’. If they only knew what is in them, they would come to them even if they had to crawl.” [Agreed upon]

6. The one who attends Masjid night & day is a true believer

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (RA) reported: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) said, “When you see a man frequenting the mosque, testify that he is a believer because Allah says: `Allah’s mosques are visited only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day.”’
[At-Tirmidhi].

Islam Verily with Hardship comes Ease

سم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem “In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful”

Assalamu - Alaikum, Brothers/Sisters of Fajr - meaning - the people who wake up for morning prayer.

ASSALAMU-WA-ALAYKUM-WA-RAHMATULAHI-WABARAKATU “May the peace of Allah be upon you, and His mercy and blessings”

by Aa’id ‘Abdullâh al-Qarnî

At a time in which the Muslims are beset with trials from every periphery, it is a time when Muslims should continue being Muslims, only better Muslims.

I would say to my dear brothers and sisters in Islam “don’t be sad”; if you are on the true religion – believing in One God and all the Messengers sent to mankind, then don’t be sad.

Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says in Qur’aan:

“…Bear with patience whatever befalls you….” ( 31 :17 )

and

“Be not sad, surely Allaah is with us.” ( 9 : 40)

Our Prophet Sall Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:

“Verily, if Allaah loves a people, He makes them go through trials. Whoever is satisfied, for him is contentment, and whoever is angry upon him is wrath.” [Tirmidhi]

Being sad is not encouraged in Islam

“So do not become weak, nor be sad…” ( 3 : 139)

“And grieve not over them, and be not distressed because of what they plot.” ( 16 : 127)

Sadness prevents one from action instead of compelling one towards it. The heart does not benefit through grief. The most beloved thing to the devil is to hinder the worshipper in the path of Allaah. The Muslim must repel sadness and fight in any way that is permissible in Islam.

Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala is sufficient for us

“Allaah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. So they returned with Grace and Bounty from Allaah. No harm touched them; and they followed the good Pleasure of Allaah. And Allaah is the owner of Great Bounty.” ( 3 : 173 - 174)

“And put your trust in Allaah if you are believers indeed…” ( 5 : 23)

“O you who believe! Seek help in patience and the prayer…” ( 2 : 153 )

By leaving your affairs to Allaah, by depending on Him, by trusting in His promise, by being pleased with His decree, by thinking favourably of Him, and by waiting patiently for His help, you reap some of the greater fruits of faith. When you incorporate these qualities, you will be at peace concerning the future, because you will depend on your Lord for everything. As a result, you will find care, help, protection and victory.

Pre-ordainment

“No calamity befalls on earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees – before We bring it into existence.” ( 57 : 22)

The pen has dried, and the pages have been lifted: all events shall come to pass have already been written. Whatever has befallen you was not meant to escape you, and whatever has escaped you was not meant to befall you: if this belief were to be firmly ingrained in your heart, then all hardships and difficulty would become ease and comfort.

The Prophet Sall Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said,

“Whoever Allaah wishes good for, He inflicts him (with hardship).” (Bukhaari)

For those who are afflicted with disaster, glad tidings await them: so remain patient and happy with your Lord.

“He cannot be questioned as to what He does, while they will be questioned.” ( 21 : 23)

Verily, with hardship, there is relief

“Verily, with hardship there is relief.” ( 94 : 6)

“Perhaps Allaah may bring victory or a decision according to His Will.” ( 5 : 52 )

Prophet Ibraheem ‘alayhissalam did not feel its heat because of the help he received from Allaah.

“We (Allaah) said : O’ fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibraheem.” ( 21 : 69 )

The sea would not drown Prophet Musa ‘alayhissalaam because he uttered in confident, strong and truthful manner:

“Nay verily! With me is my Lord, He will guide me.” ( 26 : 62 )

And the Prophet Muhammad Sall Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbaas radiyallahu ‘anhu:

“..Be mindful of Allaah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allaah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity… And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship.” [Tirmidhi]

Accept life as it is

If you read the Qur’aan you will see that all the Prophets ‘alayhimussalaam went through trials and tribulations. Life is a test so let us learn from the best examples of our Prophets.

“Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty, ailments and were shaken.” ( 2 : 214 )

We should know that if we are pleased with our Lord, He will be pleased with us. And if you are pleased with your Lord no matter what the situation is, then you will find that you have earned your Lord’s pleasure. On the other hand, there are hypocrites whom Allaah rejects their deeds. They are displeased with what Allaah sends down and they hate seeking His pleasure; thus their deeds are performed in vain.

Your recompense is with Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala

When Allaah, the Exalted takes something away from you, He compensates it with something better, but only if you are patient and seek His reward.

Prophet Muhammad Sall Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:

“Whoever loses a loved one from the people of this world and then seeks recompense with his Lord, will be compensated with Paradise.”

Those who are in this world and are close to Allaah will be raised in the highest of heaven:

“Peace be upon you, because you peresevered in patience! Excellent indeed is the final home!” ( 13 : 24)

Truly, the life of this world is short and its treasures are few. O’ afflicted ones, if you are patient you lose nothing; and though you may not perceive it, you are profiting.

Extract honey but do not break the hive

“Repel (the evil) with one which is better, then verily! He, between whom and you there was enmity (will become) as though he was a close friend.” ( 41 : 34)

“….and harm them not. And put your trust in Allaah.” ( 33 : 48)

Prophet Muhammad Sall Allaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said,

“Verily, Allaah ordered me to keep relations with those that cut off, forgive the ones who does an injustice with me, and to give to those who withhold from me.”

“Those who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allaah loves the good-doers.” ( 3 : 134)

Remembrance of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala

“Verily, in the remembrance of Allaah do hearts find rest.” ( 13 : 28)

“Therefore remember Me and I will remember you…” ( 2 : 152)

We should not be surprised when we hear that people who remember Allah are at peace. What is truly surprising is how the negligent and unmindful survive without remembering Him. Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala says in the Qur’aan,

“They are dead, lifeless and they know not when they will be raised up.” ( 16 : 21)

Truly, He is near when supplicated: He hears when he is called and He answers when He is invoked, so humble yourself before Him and ask of Him sincerely. Repeat His beautiful names, and mention Him alone as worthy of worship. Mention His praises, supplicate to Him: you will find then – by the will of Allaah – happiness, peace and illumination.

“So Allaah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter.” ( 3 : 148)

Loving Allaah, knowing Him, remembering Him, seeking peace in Him, singling Him out for complete love, fear, hope and dependence – these qualities when combined in a person, constitute a sort of heaven on earth. These are qualities that bring peace to those who love Allah, a sort of peace that has no comparison in this world.

It is important that a special relationship exists in the heart between the slave and his Lord, a relationship that allows the slave to feel so close to his Lord that he requires no other. Thus, he finds company when he is alone, and he tastes the sweetness of remembering Him and supplicating to Him. Allaah’s slave will continually face hardship and difficulty until he dies, but if he has a special relationship with his Lord, all of the hardships of life will become easy for him.

The prayer….the prayer – we must return to our masajid

“O’ you who believe! Seek help in patience and the Prayer.” ( 2 : 153)

By earnestly performing the five daily prayers, we achieve the greatest of blessings: cleared off our sins and increase in rank with our Lord. Prayer is a potent remedy for our sickness, for it instills our faith in our souls.

As for those that keep away from the mosque and away from prayer, for them is unhappiness, wretchedness and an embittered life.

“For them is destruction and Allaah will make their deeds vain.” ( 47 : 8)

Take a moment to reflect

O whose mind has wandered in grief, O’ you whose eyes are loaded with tears; relax and know that your Creator aids, and that His mercy will bring you peace. And know that your reward is secure with He Who doesn’t disappoint the one who seeks to please Him. Be at peace, for after poverty comes joyous meeting, and after sleeplessness comes sound rest. O you who are oppressed in the lands, who suffer from hunger, pain, sickness and poverty, rejoice in the knowledge that you will soon be satisfied with food and that you will be happy and in good health.

Let us make these supplications, their purpose being to eliminate hardship, anxiety and grief

“There is no worthy of worship except Allaah, the Ever Forbearing, the Most Great. There is none worthy of worship except Allaah, the Lord of the Tremendous Throne. There is none worthy of worship One Who sustains and protects all that exists, there is none worthy of worship except You, and by Your Mercy do we seek Your aid.”

“So be patient, with a good patience…” (70 : 5).

“Verily, along with every hardship is relief, verily, along with hardship is relief. So when you have finished (your occupation), devote yourself for Allaah’s worship. And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes.” (94:5-8).

Advice of Rasool Allah(s.a.w.)

Narrated Abu Hurairah(r.a) that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Who will learn these phrases from me and act on them or find out who acts on them?
So Abu Hurairah (r.a) responded: I will, O’ Messenger of Allah! So he grabbed my hands and enumerated five things. He said: “Safeguard yourself from which is forbidden, you will be the best worshipper among the people; and be pleased with whatever Allah has given you, you will be the most self-sufficient of people; and be good to your neighbor, you will be a believer; and love for the people what you love for yourself, you will be a Muslim; and do not laugh too much for too much laughter makes heart dead.”

(Tirmidhi, Classified as Hasan by Al-Albani in Jami Al-Saheeh)

Vocabulary of the Hadith
اعبد best worshipper

قسم gave/distributed

جارك your neighbor

الضحك laughter

تميت kills

Lessons of The Hadith

1. Bad deeds eat up the reward of good deeds, so the best formula to become the best worshipper of Allah is to leave the unlawful.
2. Haram makes Ibadah hard, Stay away from Haram Acts to enjoy the true spirit of Ibadah/Worship of Allah.
3. True richness is the richness of the heart (i.e. contentment). If we aren’t content, we’ll never feel happy no matter how much wealth we amass
4. A sign of emaan is to treat one’s neighbor nicely
5. Well-wishing for others is the basic trait of a Muslim, Desire the best for others in order to become a Good Muslim
6. Laughing is not prohibited, but remaining in excessive jest and laughter deprives the heart of life (Reminder: Smiling is Encouraged & is Sadaqah)

Saying ‘Al-Hamdulillah’ on Sneezing

Imam Al-Nawawi’s Riyad-us-Saliheen
Chapter 142
Saying ‘Al-Hamdulillah’ on Sneezing, its reply and Manners relating to Sneezing and Yawning

878. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “Allah likes sneezing and dislikes yawning. When any one of you sneezes and says `Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah)’, it becomes obligatory upon every Muslim who hears him to respond with `Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)’. Yawning is from the devil. When one of you feels like yawning, he should restrain it as much as possible, for the devil laughs when one of you yawns.”
[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary: Sneezing lightens the mind of man, and bodily he feels comfort. It is, therefore, something good and one should glorify Allah for it. Whereas, yawning is indicative of gluttony, sloth and heaviness and is considered disagreeable. The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) commanded us to stop it either by closing our mouth or by putting our hand across it in order to avoid an act which pleases Satan.

879. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “When one of you sneezes he should say: `Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah),’ and his brother or his companion should say to him: `Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you).’ When he says this he should reply: `Yahdikum-ullah wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and render sound your state of affairs).”’
[Al-Bukhari].

Commentary: This Hadith teaches Muslims to have good wishes for one another and to return good for good. This reciprocity increases mutual love and results in the unity, peace and dynamism of the Muslim society. May we act upon the golden principles of our religion!

880. Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “When one of you sneezes and praises Allah (i.e., says Al-hamdu lillah), you should invoke Allah’s Mercy upon him (i.e., say Yarhamuk-Allah); but if he does not praise Allah, you should not make a response.” [Muslim].

Commentary: Two senses have been attributed to this prayer of Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam). It means to pray for the good and growth of somebody. Yet, it may also be interpreted in this way, “May Allah save you from such things as will please your opponents.”

881. Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam), he responded to one with “Yarhamuk-Allah (may Allah have mercy on you)” and did not respond to the other. The latter said to him: “You invoked a blessing on this man but did not do so in my case.” The Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) replied, “He praised Allah (i.e., he said `Al-hamdu lillah’) but you did not.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith tells us that we should seek Blessings of Allah only to that sneezer who says Al-hamdu lillah.

882. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) sneezed, he would cover his mouth with his hand or a piece of cloth, suppressing the sound this way.
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Commentary: This Hadith stresses a very important point. In the presence of others, a sneezer is supposed to put his hand or handkerchief over his mouth so that the explosive sound may be suppressed. The other benefit of this precaution is that it avoids causing an uneasy feeling to persons sitting beside him.

883. Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Jews used to intentionally sneeze in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) hoping that he would say to them: `Yarhamukum-ullah (may Allah have mercy on you),’ but he would respond with: “Yahdikum-ullahu wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and render sound your state of affairs).”
[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].

Commentary: Here, we are told that in response to sneezing on the part of non-Muslims, we should only utter these benedictory words: “Yahdikum-ullahu wa yuslihu balakum (may Allah guide you and render sound your state of affairs)!”

884. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, “When one yawns, he should put his hand over his mouth, otherwise the devil will enter.”
[Muslim].

Commentary: At the time of yawning, one should put his hand across his mouth. It is a disliked act or Makruh to yawn noisily, because this act pleases Satan. In other words, we must not miss any chance to degrade and frustrate Satan
